We make textile education accessible to everyone.

Through the lens of environmental stewardship, we build and maintain regional programming that fosters connections between textile students, teachers, professionals, and artisans in the context of their communities. We believe the solution to fast-fashion and textile waste is in education and connection to materials, as well as to each other.

We empower students through creative self expression and skill development

We center agency within our curriculum to support student focus, self-discipline, problem-solving, and creative vision. This means our curriculum is not a kit or product-bound. Our teachers work with students to apply their own ideas to technical skills learned in the classroom.

We make connections beyond the classroom.

Our classroom is mobile, allowing us to engage with different audiences and meet students where they are within their communities. We teach skills related to textiles including sewing, weaving, and dyeing. Through these skills, we practice hand-eye coordination, dexterity, as well as measuring and math. Outcomes include sewing tool proficiency, pattern literacy, and executing original ideas. During curriculum development, we consult regional businesses, professionals, and artisans working in the field of textiles, whose values align with our mission of fighting practices related to fast fashion and textile waste. Through guest classroom visits and relevant coursework, we offer support and guidance for interest in textile trades such as patternmaking, textile design, tailoring, upholstery, fabrication, and repair.

We address issues of textile waste through practice.

The materials we use to learn and practice skills are repurposed, deadstock, or locally sourced. We develop upcycling, recycling, and repair skills. Through clothing donations, we bring the thrift store to the classroom. Upcycling, or reimagining existing clothing, is a fun and creative solution to keeping garments out of the landfill for all ages. We connect with all stages of textile production, building student understanding in how textiles are made, where they come from, and where they end up.
